Writing and my dream life

First off, I'd like to express to you all how much I love to write! No joke... It's amazing! There's just something about it that makes me happy! I love fantasy, because I feel it gives you the most creative freedom. You don't have to research facts, or stay within the limits of this world. Most people (or maybe it's just me...) read books to escape this world! And I feel fantasy does that best. Just my personal opinion.

So, anyway, I'm writing a book called Reverie. It's my little pet. It's kind of awful right now (I mean...uh, it's great! *flick*) but I hope some day that it will become great. If you guys are interested, I have a blog called Inkblots, and it's where I share my writing advice (not that it's especially good or anything....) and update you on the going ons of my story writing. So far I've not been doing very good at updating, but I predict that changing... Hopefully. Today I wrote a post about SCSS, and I think it's pretty fantastic, if I do say so myself.

I also love just writing little bits of stories! Often times I get story plot ideas, but only when I'm not looking to start another project. (and then when I say, "Hey, I want to write a book with a really good plot line!" Guess what? No ideas... Anywho) So, I get these ideas, but don't have time to expand on them. What do I do? First, I add the idea to my nifty idea list (not to be shown to the public at this time) And then, since most of my plots come from a single scene I imagine, I write down the scene. I have loads of random, story-less chapter tidbits. So what did I do? I made Random Tidbits (of stories I'll never write). It's a pretty fantastic blog, if I do say so myself. I often find myself reading it whilst bored. Though, as you read it, remember that it's all ROUGH DRAFT. So, don't expect to go and read amazing stuff or anything like that...

Alright, now away from my blogs, (P.S. If you didn't get the hint, I'll be blunt now... GO READ MA BLOGS! [you really only need to read the 2nd one, unless you love writing like I do...]) and away from writing all together! Well, almost. So, I found myself daydreaming today while my hot water boiled for ma cocoa. And I was thinking about how awesome it would be if everything went my way. Want to hear my "never-going-to-happen-quite-like-this-but-I-hope-to-get-somewhat-close" dream life? Aight, here goes.

We'll start off when I'm 18. Somehow I have a really great job, with super fantastic hours, and great pay. I have enough money to move out! Also, I have a car. A nice one... I move into a pet accepting apartment, and bring my kitties with me. I will the promptly get a kitty loving puppy, 2 chinchillas, and maybe some African Dwarf Frogs... My roomates will be totally cool with it. I will get my bachelors in History Education, then maybe move to Williamsburg and live on that ADORABLE little house on main street! And, well, obviously I'd work there... I'd stay for a few years, maybe meet some nice guys... ;) Then I'd want to move back to my good ol' home in Utah, get my Masters, get married, move to some cute place where it snows a lot, we have a large house, live near the woods, and have room for a horsey... :) I'd spend my days writing books, and, well, obviously I'd teach History... (on a Junior High level maybe? Or possibly High School...)

There ya have it. My dream life. Honestly, I know that that's not how things are going to go down, don't worry. But it IS fun to dream sometimes! :) So, now I'll awkwardly wrap up this post with two entirely different sections that don't relate to each other at all...

Thanksgiving

So, as I assume you all know, yesterday was Thanksgiving day. In honor of that, I'd like to share some of the things I'm most thankful for!

The Gospel:
It's been such a great light in my life. I'm so blessed to have been born into an active family, with parents that taught me the truth. It's great to know that whenever I have a problem, or just need some comfort, I can turn to Heavenly Father, and He'll always help me.

My Family:
Dad: Basically, he's the best dad anyone could have. He likes to play games, and he likes music, and he loves to serve. I'm so grateful for the great example my wonderful dad sets!
Mom: She's super amazing! She loves to take vacations, and make memories with her family. She's super great to talk to. I love her so much!
Kristen: She's super happy, and funny. I'm glad that she's older, so that she can show me what to do. :) She's fun to hang out with, and talk to. Thanks Kristen!
Christopher: Well, he's the newest addition to the family, but I love him! He's really funny, and he's willing to try anything new. I'm so glad I'm related to him now!
Trevor: My wonderful older brother! I'm so thankful that he chose to go on a mission, and serve the Lord. He's a great example! I love him SO much! He's super funny, and he's really fun to hang out with! I'm especially grateful for him and his example this Thanksgiving.
Brielle: She's the cutest little five year old you'll ever meet! I love how much she just loves to PLAY, and how she treats all her little stuffed animals! I'm also very glad I have someone to hang out with me now that Kristen and Trevor are gone. :)

My Friends:
Katie: I'm super proud of Katie for finishing her Personal Progress when she was 14! :O Wow! She's a great example to me! I love how dedicated she is to both sports AND family! She's very happy, and smart, and amazing!
Emily: She's basically the most dramatic person you'll ever meet. In a good way of course! She's not afraid to show her feelings and stand up for herself and others! She's very happy and fun, and her attitude is very contagious!
Nikki: Nikki loves to do crafts, and make things, and she's very good at it. She's really smart, and fun! She also makes good cookies and brownies... :) And she's super awesome in general!

My Kitties:
I'm thankful that I can hug, and snuggle with them. They make me feel better when I'm sad, and I can share all my secrets with them. Cuddles makes a great teddy bear, while Blossom makes and awesome pillow, and Julius just likes to snuggle. They're all super wonderful! I' very grateful to my parents for putting up with them for 12 years, and paying for them. Thanks Mom and Dad!

Music:
I love music. It makes me feel so happy inside! Whenever I just need a break, I can sit down at the piano and play. I'm very thankful that I decided not to give up on the piano! I'm very grateful for soundtracks like How to Train Your Dragon, that just makes me feel GOOD! I love how much my family loves music. Music is just awesome!

This Thanksgiving, I'm just overwhelmed by how many blessings I have! It really is true that when you count your blessings, you really are happier.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Force feeding a cat: Harder than it sounds

Cat being force fed→
So, I know that I just posted this afternoon. But I just had the most...interesting experience. Now, normally you expect a cat to just go over to the food bowl and eat, right?

Well, unless your kitty is sick. Let me take you step by step on force feeding a cat:

  1. Open a cat of smelly, squishy, and slightly watery prescription cat food.
  2. Set it down hopefully in front of cat.
  3. Watch in despair as cat mournfully walks away.
  4. Sigh, and make sure syringes are clean.
  5. Attempt to suck food up through syringe.
  6. Give up after all you get is air bubbles and a few droplets of food.
  7. Use butter knife to try and push food through top of syringe.
  8. When putting syringe back together, promptly squirt cat food all over kitchen.
  9. Repeat step 7 and 8 until thoroughly frustrated.
  10. Finally figure out that if you fill syringe not all the way full, and aim it into can that you will no longer have to mop up decayed fish...I mean, cat food.
  11. Set syringe and cup of water on a tile or other easily mopable floor.
  12. Grab cat and try to squirt food into mouth.
  13. Change shirt, as it now has food on it.
  14. Put on apron, refill syringe, and try again.
  15. Promptly be scratched in the face with some of those wicked looking claws. Don't be fooled, just because they're sick does NOT mean that they won't fight!
  16. Grab and old towel and wrap kitty up like a burrito. Cradle him in one arm while trying to put syringe into mouth with the other hand. Kitty will then turn his head every which way in an attempt to escape the horrible stuff. (But who can really blame him? I wouldn't want to eat that...)
  17. Ask family member to come hold him tightly while you hold his head and gently squirt the food into his mouth.
  18. Sigh in relief.
  19. Realize that you still need to feed him more.
  20. Repeat
